Hey everyone! Just a quick review of a little piece of software that I have grown fond of. It's called Sound Borb. It's an ambiance generator. You can take a bunch of .wav or .ogg files and have Sound Borb's sliders control how and when they play. You can assign each sound several settings (ie: which player sliders affect it, whether the volume is adjustable from the player, whether it loops, if it is randomly triggered) from within a small text file. The text files are simple to figure out. Also, there are a bunch of Sound Borbs that have already been made that you can listen to and use for inspiration. If you like one, just open up the associated text file and you can see what's making it work.
You can download the Sound Borb player HERE, as well as a bunch of Borbs that have already been made, including several by me (look for Sleem).
As a side note, I've started to consider playing a live Sound Borb show. You can open several Sound Borb players at once and mix between them. I've had four Borbs open at once and simply shifted sliders to mix between the Borbs.
It's a lot of fun. I think everyone should tinker around with it and make some Borbs. Or collaborate with fellow Borb makers (called a Borblaboration).
